“I knew that I was not the only parent in this kind of situation and that I needed to take matters into my own hands.”
Over 28 years ago I was working full-time in Law Enforcement and was in need of child care for my first born son.
I explored many options such as private home care providers, corporate chain centers and so on. While seeking out all of my options, I met many capable and qualified people, yet the experience as a whole convinced me that I wanted something more for my son, something that none of these places could offer.
I wanted him in a more personal, cozy, comfortable and caring place where I knew he would be safe, secure and well cared for. I also wanted more than one person around him who would be loving and guiding him, and who also had the time, patience and desire to know him as a unique individual with personal needs.
I wanted a place I could be proud of – my son deserved it and I needed this peace of mind in order to perform to the best of my ability while working. In my quest, I realized the kind of place I wanted for him didn’t exist. I knew that I was not the only parent in this kind of situation and that I needed to take matters into my own hands. That’s when I decided to switch gears from Law Enforcement to Child Development and created “Discovery Days Learning Center”.
